It’s a puzzle as well as a
game that you may play with a partner. In
this game two players will take turns to call out dates. The rules are the following.
The game begins with the date January 1. The two players in turn then announce
another date. Every new date has to be a later date in the year. A new date can
either be a date from the same month of the previous date OR the same day of a
later month. (For example, if we start with January 1 then Player-1 can call a later
date from January or can call a date like February 1, March 1, April 1, etc.)
The player who calls December 31 wins.
Now, here is the puzzle: Is there a winning strategy for any
of the players?
